Having a safe neighborhood is the paramount goal of the Vickery Meadow Improvement District. In fact, this goal was the driving force that caused property owners of Vickery Meadow to create the Improvement District in 1993. We believe that living in a safe environment is a universal desire of every parent, every child, and every person, no matter where they choose to live.
Safety forms the primary foundation by which all our other endeavors are built. Our focus and commitment is to reduce neighborhood crime, offer crime reduction education and awareness, and provide a safer environment for the residents and families who live in Vickery Meadow. We monitor neighborhood crime information, build crime statistical databases, and share crime information with on-site apartment/condo staffs. We also share this information with property owners/management companies, the Dallas Police Department and the Dallas City Council.
We have taken a multi-faceted approach to keeping our neighborhood safe. We have partnered with the Dallas Police Department and their Interactive Community Policing Program to address crime trends and neighborhood nuisance problems. We have also supplemented the police presence with a contracted security service( Vickery Meadow Patrol), which adds an additional layer of patrol coverage for identifying and deterring crime in the neighborhood. Intervention strategies by both agencies are adjusted weekly based on the most recent neighborhood crime events.
The Vickery Meadow Improvement District hosts the twice-monthly Neighborhood Crime Awareness Meeting and the monthly Vickery Together Apartment Managers Crime Watch Meeting. Both gatherings focus on crime awareness and crime prevention. We have also proactively initiated a Lease Violation Citation Program to address nuisance problems on multi-family properties. Under this program, residents can be issued civil citations for nuisance or disruptive behaviors when observed by our security service. The violations might include loud music disturbances or alcohol consumption in apartment/condo common areas. The goal of the program is to hold lease violators accountable for their unacceptable conduct.
