The Vickery Meadow Improvement District utilizes its Community Services Program to produce and coordinate community enrichment activities and events, develop and nurture community relationships and support, as well as to disseminate and publish information in an effort to foster a sense of community. We also work to cultivate resident leadership and participation in community programs and events to empower residents to engage in civic participation and to be aware of needs in the community to strengthen involvement in community issues on a long-term basis. It is important to us that families feel good about living here in Vickery Meadow.

The Community Services Program supports VMID's mission in the following ways:

  • Community Enrichment Activities and Events
Identify funding sources to provide special needs and programs for the Vickery residents. These events attract families and a host of community services to promote health, literacy, counseling and many other valuable services available at no charge to the participating families
  • Developing Community Relationships
By developing partnerships and collaboration with other community organizations, VMID increases its ability to help build sustainable communities. These outreach efforts help meet the varied and changing needs of the Vickery Meadow Community.
  • Disseminating and Publishing Information
Communities that are economically and socially disadvantaged are often not aware of the services and programs available to them. VMID attempts at reaching those unaware by distributing and publishing information

Vickery Coalition Action Team
The Vickery Coalition Action Team (VCAT) is a coalition of agencies, organizations and individuals who volunteer their time and efforts to Vickery Meadow to make it a healthier, safer place to live, work and play. VCAT was formed in 1994, with about 5 agencies, to evaluate and respond to health, social, educational and recreational needs of the community. Today, there are about 40 plus entities and individuals working together to affect change.

The vision of VCAT is for the Vickery Meadow Community to be a model of quality urban apartment living characterized by active community services; neighborly resident relationships; a clean safe, visually appealing environment; and opportunities to develop individual potential and grow in a positive lifestyle of contentment and contribution.

The Vickery Meadow Improvement District host VCAT monthly meetings on the fourth Friday of each month from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm at the Bank of Texas located at 8255 Walnut Hill Lane. Visitors are welcomed and may RSVP with Angelina at executivedirector@vickerymeadow.org.
